Idea Open Day

B. Idea Open Day

Interested applicants are invited to attend the ‘Idea Open Day’ to be held in Lagos on 24 August 2018. This workshop, facilitated by CcHub will ensure development teams & startups understand the purpose of the challenge and are able to submit applications that are fit for purpose. Staff members from Stanbic IBTC will also be present at the event to share more information about the resources that the idea owners can leverage from their organization’s assets.

The workshops will discuss the following:

  • Themes and innovation options - mobile apps, small business ideas etc.

  • Specific ideas and applications that can be tested and implemented during Incubation

  • Unit-specific pain points and the current technology stack

  • Tips for social innovators and key learnings regarding how to start and scale a business.

Pitch Preparation

10 October – 12 October 2018

C. Pitch Preparation

The call for entries closes on 14 September 2018. All entries will then be judged and 10 semi-finalists will be shortlisted.

The semi-finalists will be coached by CcHUB to:

  • Build basic prototypes of the proposed solutions

  • Develop a plan for how the product will be integrated into existing processes of Stanbic IBTC

  • Develop a plan for how the venture will generate revenue to become self-sustaining

  • Develop and deliver compelling business pitches

Pitching Session

12 October 2018

D. Pitch Session

Semi-finalists will pitch their solutions to a panel of judges, select press, and the public in October 2018.

Shortlisted ventures will pitch physically at the day-long event taking place at the Stanbic IBTC Blue Lab on 12 October 2018.

A judging panel,comprised of Stanbic IBTC and CcHUB executives, will select the top 3 solutions based on their capacity to address the solution areas that have been identified, their potential impact, and the probability of their implementation.

On this day, the judges will announce the top three (3) solutions who will do a final pitch to top executives of Stanbic IBTC within a month, where a winner will be selected.


12 October 2018 - 29 March 2019

E. Incubation

The winner will then advance to the incubation phase for a 6 month period where they will receive support from the CcHUB incubation unit to bring the solution to life.

Over the subsequent six months, the winning team will be supported with a range of services focused on achieving proof of concept, as well as integration of their solutions to the systems of the corresponding Stanbic IBTC business unit.

The 2nd and 3rd teams would be offered the same opportunity to integrate their solutions and to run a Proof of Concept, with incubation support by CcHub for 6 months.
